When I saw this it took me by surprise, and then I realised that so many of my photos has been by chance. To be at the right place at the right time. Yesterday I took over sixty photos and when I downloaded them not one of them could be used. Trying to get a close up of a wild bird is not always easy. This photo has not been edited except for brightness, and I must admit the quality is not as good as I would like it to be, it was only encluded because it's unusual.

This is Charlie. In Melbourne today the temperature reached 112 degrees Fah. and birds must have water. Another reason for me to make this post is that this photo makes a great wallpaper.

This is a family of magpies. From the left six months old female (Anne). It's easy to tell her, she has a grey back as do all females, and a small body with immature feathers. Next is Elizabeth. She has a grey back and mature feathers. That's mum. Then we have dad Phillip; he is bigger and has a white back. These birds are very territorial, and they do not dive bomb my family like some do. Phillip, the male, is not as friendly as the others. If I left the back door open Elizabeth might walk in, and this is not good.

Elizabeth and family enjoy having breakfast with me at 6-30 am. This bird follows me around like a dog, even when I have friends over. The pair of legs you see are those of Anne.
