This is a family of magpies. From the left six months old female (Anne). It's easy to tell her, she has a grey back as do all females, and a small body with immature feathers. Next is Elizabeth. She has a grey back and mature feathers. That's mum. Then we have dad Phillip; he is bigger and has a white back. These birds are very territorial, and they do not dive bomb my family like some do. Phillip, the male, is not as friendly as the others. If I left the back door open Elizabeth might walk in, and this is not good.
